The Point and Emerging Practice

26 May 2017

Last night The Point Youth Centre in Tadley was awarded an RIBA South Award and we were named RIBA South Emerging Practice of the Year.

The RIBA has been celebrating outstanding work for over 180 years and the RIBA Regional Awards recognise UK buildings of architectural importance.

RIBA Regional Award winners will also be considered for the highly sought-after RIBA National Awards and the shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be chosen from the national award-winning buildings later in the year.

We are delighted to have received such a prestigious award for a project that means so much to us and the Tadley community. To be named ‘RIBA South Emerging Practice of the Year’ is a real honour and marks another significant milestone for the practice.

Young Architect of the Year 2017

BD Architect of the Year Awards

13 March 2017

We’re delighted to have won the Young Architect of the Year Award at the BD Architect of the Year Awards! The prestigious Award recognises young practices from across Europe, with the category being open to fully qualified architects who have been registered to practise for 12 years or less.

Directors David Ayre, Matthew Chamberlain, Dominic Gaunt and Oliver Wood collected the award at a ceremony at ExCeL, London on Wednesday 8 March. This award is recognition for the “most promising architectural practice in the European Union”.

We were also shortlisted from 15 finalists for The Schueco Gold Award which is presented to the practice that has made the most significant contribution to British architecture over the past year. It’s the award for the best of the best. We’re aiming for that one next year!

THE BOX THEATRE

Surface Design Award Winner

21 February 2017

The Box theatre topped the Light and Exterior Surface award category at the Surface Design Awards in London earlier this month. The award is dedicated to the innovative use of light and the way it is inextricably linked to surfaces and we’re thrilled our work at the College was recognised.

The theatre uses translucent polycarbonate rainscreen panels by Rodeca for their range of colours, transparency, lightweight look and feel and ability to be backlit.

“Rodeca was chosen because it can be back-lit whole providing a colourful and lightweight appearance during the day. Because of its transparency we were also able to use it as a diffuser for the hypertext signage of the theatre. A good colour range and different levels of transparency between panel types afforded a range of options with which to play with on the façade.” – Dominic Gaunt, Project Director
